Privacy Policy

How CineLog collects, uses, and protects your information.

Last updated: October 2, 2026

Introduction

CineLog ("we", "us", or "our") operates https://cinelog.fyi. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and share information when you use our personal movie and TV tracking service.

CineLog is a catalog tracker. We do not host, stream, or distribute audio-visual content.

Information We Collect

Account information: username, email address, date of birth (for age verification), streaming region preference, and a bcrypt-hashed password when you register.

Profile information: optional display name, date of birth, streaming region, and onboarding preferences such as preferred genres and languages.

Library data: titles you save, watch status, impressions (like, love, dislike), smart collections, franchise follows, and series progress.

Session data: an httpOnly authentication cookie (auth_token) used to keep you signed in.

Password reset data: if you use the forgot-password flow, we store a hashed, time-limited reset token linked to your account until the reset link expires or is used.

We do not use third-party analytics, advertising trackers, or sell your personal data.

How We Use Your Information

We use your information solely to provide and maintain the service: authenticating you, verifying that you meet the minimum age requirement, syncing your library across devices, defaulting streaming availability to your chosen region, and personalizing your experience within the app.

If you request a password reset, we use your email address to send a one-time reset link to the reset-password page. The link contains a token that lets you set a new password without sharing your old one with us.

We may send transactional emails related to your account (for example, email verification or password reset). These emails are sent only for account-related purposes and not for marketing.

Third-Party Services

The Movie Database (TMDB): We fetch movie and TV metadata, images, and streaming availability data from TMDB. TMDB receives standard API requests from our servers; your personal library data is not sent to TMDB.

JustWatch: Streaming availability shown in the app is sourced via TMDB's partnership with JustWatch.

Turso: Your account and library data are stored in a Turso (SQLite) database.

Hosting: The application runs on our VPS infrastructure to serve the website and API.

External links: When you follow links to third-party apps or websites (such as Stremio, IMDB, or YouTube trailers), those services have their own privacy policies.

Cookies

We use a strictly necessary session cookie to maintain your login state. This cookie is httpOnly and, in production, is marked Secure.

We do not use non-essential cookies for advertising or cross-site tracking.

Data Retention

We retain your account and library data for as long as your account is active.

Password reset tokens are kept only until they expire or are used to complete a reset, after which they are cleared from our database.

When you delete your account through Settings, we permanently delete your user record and associated data from our database.

Your Rights

You may update your profile information at any time in Settings.

If you forget your password, you may use the forgot-password option on the login page to receive a reset link at the email address on your account.

You may delete your account at any time from Settings → User Profile. Deletion is permanent and removes your library, collections, and preferences.

To request help with your data or ask privacy questions, contact us at cinelog.official@gmail.com.

Children

CineLog is not intended for users under 13 years of age. We collect your date of birth when you create an account and when you update your profile to verify that you meet this minimum age. Accounts cannot be created if the submitted date of birth indicates an age below 13.

We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us data, contact us at cinelog.official@gmail.com and we will delete it.

Security

We use industry-standard practices including password hashing, secure session tokens, and HTTPS in production. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page will reflect the latest version. Continued use of the service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
